Rapid Sketch - Boy Band

Ink Art 1.3

So... there is a story behind this sketch. I was browsing YouTube looking for "new" music to add to my various playlists, and I decided to explore kpop (aka Korean Pop). Anyway, I somehow found "Shock" by a six-member group called B2ST (BEAST). [link] I thought the corridor scene in the music video was pretty cool so I wanted to draw it.

Thus I did a fast sketch with five guys instead of six to keep it more symmetrical. I usually just post the "final" result of my sketches, but this time I decided to share three of the main stages:

1. Preliminary sketch. Just a very fast sketch to lay out where each object (aka person) needs to be and what general pose he will be in.

2. Detailing. Just what it sounds like: adding all of the important details. I did the guys one by one (starting with the "lead" in the center) giving them faces, hair, and clothing. Then I added a little more to the background.

3. Finishing touches. Used shading to add some depth.

Since this is a distance shot, it was very hard to do the smaller details like the facial features. Oh, in case you are wondering, I did this piece digitally using my TabletPC and the program Ink Art 1.3. That is what I use for almost all of the sketches I post here on DA, because my scanner is temperamental.

Now I want to do a close up of one of the guys so I can have fun with the crazy outfits.
